Hello from the Treasure Coast, South Florida

I'm new to this forum and the wonderful world of sailing. I've never sailed before but hoping to change that soon. I saved a Venture 22 from the scrapyard and now she sits in my backyard... Lol... My plan is to restore her, learn to sail and eventually upgrade to a live aboard. I've started a blog to document the restoration experience and will have some pictures up soon..
Look forward to meeting everyone!

Re: Hello from the Treasure Coast, South Florida

Welcome,

Palm Beach has a couple of sailing clubs offering inexpensive sailing lessons. They had weekend courses and would help you to get your ASA 101 if you wanted to go that route. I ended up taking a private course because of time and paid way more. Buy the ASA text book, Sailing made easy. I read and reread it again before taking lessons and it cuts the learning curve in half.

Good luck, Woody

Re: Hello from the Treasure Coast, South Florida

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone and great advice!

Yes I have been reading as much as I can lately and also looked into some of the local sailing clubs. As I get closer with the repairs on the boat I will most likely explore this option.
