Hello community—
I just joined as one of my many steps to
liveaboard and cruising lifestyle. I’ve done lots of cruising in our Contessa 26 and racing/crewing across the globe from
Puget Sound to buoy-racing in
Hong Kong. Nothing like messing about in
boats, no?
I’ve spent many decades back-and-forth or living in East
Asia, and I’ve always dreamed about sailing into either
Hong Kong or Shanghai Harbor at the
Helm of my own
boat.
That would require a
Seattle to
Hawaii,
Hawaii to
Japan type trip… But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
My dad was 72 when he bought his Contessa 26 and he always expressed regret that he had not done it sooner. I worked with him in
partnership to completely
refit that
boat, and it was an amazing experience for both of us.
I have narrowed my field
boats to Tayana 42, passport 40, Baba 40, fast
Passage 39, maybe Hans Christian 43T.
Trying to take incremental steps toward this vision each day so I appreciate further dialogue with all of you and I’ll leave the logbook open on the counter….
Cheers-
Derek
