Hello from the Netherlands

We're new here a like to say "ahoy" to all of you.
We always sailed as a family from a 20ft open sailboat in the early 50's to the cutter rigged cruiser we own now. When I was in my mid 40's my wife and I decided to go for the big journey and so for some years we crossed the Baltic, Med, Atlantic, Caribean and the ICW and it was a experience not te be missed and a great added value to our life.
So for all those dreamers ashore or floating: pick up a new lifestyle, live your dream and GO SAILING. Ok, you can wait until you are retired, saved some money but maybe at that time you're not physically able to do it anymore. My advice: GO for it when you're still young and forget about the rat race.

Our cruising highlites: ICW from West Palm Beach to Savannah and back - the Abacos (Marsh Harbour, Hope Town, Man-O-War) - making landfall in Bermuda and especially Faial(Acores) - cruising the beautifull waters of the Baltic(Denmark, Sweden, Finland) - sailing the coastal waters and lakes of the former E-German Rep. (Mechlenburg-Vorpommern / Hiddensee) and of course the Dutch lakes and estuaries.

Then of course the sealife: birds, underwaterworld, diving around coral riffs, anchored out and waked by the sound of dolphins, manatees on the ICW.

What was our best experience? What striked us most: I think the cruising lifestyle: meeting people from all over the world from Sweden to South Africa and from Canada and the USA to Brazil and it's amazing to discover that after a few talks (ok some drinks too) we agreed that we can turn this planet into a peacefull and natural environment in spite of race, politics and religion
