Hello from South Manchester!

Hello all!

I'm from south of Manchester, UK. Looking to get into sailing with the eventual goal of buying a ~14m cruiser, perhaps homing it in Wales.

I'm currently looking to do the RYA Competent Crew course perhaps out of Conwy, Wales.

One day I hope to be able to sail off to the South coast of the UK, Spain, the Med, perhaps even an Atlantic crossing if I feel confident enough

Competent crew is a waste of time... Take Day Skipper theory and practical. Knowledge is tides is essential for what you plan

Do it where you plan to sail...none tidal courses are also a waste of time if you ever hope to sail safely in North Wales.

Thanks Bill! I've been browsing boats online quite a bit, but I'm probably a year or so away from buying anything! Kind of have my eye on a Jeanneau 42 sun odyssey, but I'm just getting started, my desires might change!

Thanks for the advice Phil, it's appreciated. I was planning on taking courses out of Conwy as the Welsh coast is pretty close to me and that's likely where my boat would be to start.

I heard about courses in the Aegean, and tempting though it is to spend a week floating about in the Greek islands, I'd rather get some practice in slightly harder conditions while there's someone experienced around.
