Hello from South East Queensland Australia

I've been sailing on and off for a few decades with (now) ex-husband but don't claim to have any proficiency.

I wrote a blog about cruising the Queensland Coast about 10 years ago.

Now I am preparing for life aboard with my lovely partner in the next year or so.

I have never been able to sew but am learning quickly (messy but functional) is my style!

No doubt we will be posting questions and seeking to learn much along our way.

Cheers,
Michelle

Welcome to you both.

I'm down on the Gold Coast so if you and your partner ever fancy a sail and a yack pop into Southport Yacht Club on a Thursday mid-arvo and get yourself on a boat for the twilight race.

Post virus, obviously!

Welcome Michelle. We're land-locked in Canberra with the boat in the UK - neither is perfect right now. Many lovely memories of Moreton, Cootharaba and the Bay to Bay race. Never boated further north though.

Hi Michelle (and your un-named partner) and welcome to CF. Hope that you can realize your plans during these turbulent times... not, perhaps, the best of times to be starting out, but the cruising life is never all that easy to enter. Perseverance will win out in the end, so hang in there and perhaps our wakes will cross one day.

Jim

Thanks Gordmay - Strange it may seem but I already thought I was a member here when I wrote my blog 10 years ago. It's good to be back

Hi mcarthur

Canberra in winter.....brrrr Maybe if the restrictions on borders are lifted it would be perfect time to head north, albeit you'd need to get your boat here or find another!! Bundaberg Port marina is lovely and friendly too.

Re: Hello from South East Queensland Australia

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the welcome. My partner Geoff bought his boat over a year ago but it was from another town further north. With work commitments and life admin taking precedence it took us ages to sail her south to his home port, against prevailing winds as everyone else headed north. Then it was time to slip and paint, and prepare for at least a week's sailing around the local waters and some nearby islands when COVID19 put paid to that (plus our overseas diving holiday planned for August). So ....this is why I am turning my hand to sewing while I work remotely from this glorious location. Tassie in winter - sheesh!!! Sail north as soon as you can
