Hello From Sarasota Florida!

Hello all! I'm new to sailing, and just acquired a Bayliner Buccaneer. I know it's not sleek and fast, but I like her just the same. Welcome all constructive feedback and ideas!

Re: Hello From Sarasota Florida!

Howdy Beerfeeri! Welcome Aboard the Forum!

Sarasota has some nice beach, I remember at one place thinking it was some of the softest sand I had felt underfoot.

New to sailing?

There is so much to learn (I am still learning, even after 40 years), and there are a lot of ways to learn about sailing.

Here are a few of my favorite (low cost) tips:

1. Youtube.
Free videos. Some of voyagers, some of knot tying, etc.

2. Amazon.com "Prime" streaming video service.
IF you already are an Amazon Prime member (about $69/year), this gives access to a number of free to see long (30+minutes) videos about sailing, including instructional videos.
________________

And here is a FREE online resource that many people miss:

3. Free LOADS of sailing info found in the Cruising Wiki linked via this forum site (just look on this forum site for the link on the WIKI tab up on the top menu.)

Have fun with your boat!

Steady

Beerferri, While I happen to think that this is the premier general sailing forum online, you should be aware that within Yahoo Groups, there is a Bayliner Buccaneer Group which can be model specific helpful. I own a Buc 240 on a trailer and belong. George

Re: Hello From Sarasota Florida!

Hi there! My new husband and I just acquired a 1978 Bayliner 295 Buccaneer in July. It needs a lot of work, but my husband is a traditional boat-builder from England and this is his first acquisition in the US. What have you done to yours? What condition is it in? We need to totally revamp ours, so I'm looking for info.
