Yes Bill, welcome to the forum! As I am sure you are aware, when heading south from St. Lucia it is best to avoid the
west coast of St. Vincent and, while thefts are up in Bequia, Admiralty Bay is still reasonably safe (although it a good idea to get to know some neighbouring
boats and set up a
boat watch). The rest of the Grenadines are pretty safe, as is
Grenada. In terms of Isla Margarita, a very
cheap place to get supplies (the island is duty free) and there are some large supermarkets within cab distance of the harbour in Porlamar. Again, set up a 'neighbourhood watch',
lift up and chain your
dinghy at night, don't wear expensive jewelry/watches and take some care at night in Porlamar (it is a relatively large city with all the problems that entails).
Enjoy!
Brad
