Hello from Panama

Hello!
My name is Bas, 17 years, and right now I'm in Panama. I've been sailing for 2 years now and have acquired quite some experience. I've sailed tall ships and yachts, have my own 30 foot sloop, and have been working in daycharters for quite some time before departure. Currently I am aboard s/v Guppy, plans were to sail to New Zealand. Due to issues I decided to discontinue the trip. Now I am in Shelter Bay. So I joined the forum to offer myself as crew, as I feel no desire to head back to my home, Sint Maarten.
Eventually I hope to end up in Holland were I can go to the Maritime School of Enkhuizen. Also hoping to find my way to Honduras to sail my Uncle's yacht to the US.
Cheers.

Re: Hello from Panama

Welcome abroad Bas, be sure to post in the crew available ( if you haven't already). You sound like an adventurous person. Have fun and be safe.

Re: Hello from Panama

Bas,

You should explain the discrepancy between the captain of "Guppy" stating you have no sailing experience and your above post.

Re: Hello from Panama

Could you rephrase that? I have sailing experience, and consider myself more than qualified to crew aboard various sailing vessels.

I think that the following is being referenced: Laura Dekker English News ...

Where your guitar playing ability is praised, and it is explained that your sailing experience is just beginning.

Re: Hello from Panama

i reccomend getting in contact with clive on the chinese junk "nutting wong"
he will sign you on as crew once you get your current problem sorted.
he should have notices posted at the yacht club.

Re: Hello from Panama

@atoll: Saw the picks, looks extremely interesting! Would love to sail abourd the vessel. Only problem remaining is that I have already promised my uncle to be in Honduras the 15th of May. Either way I'll have a look on the notice boards.
@h20man: Glad that's cleared up, under no circumstances would I like to be misidentified with him. Guess I can somehow see where the misunderstanding comes in.

Re: Hello from Panama

@baslovesailing,

Sorry for jumping to the wrong impression, but as you said, you can see why there was a misunderstanding.

Now I'll do what I always do for a new member of CF, welcome aboard, you sure made a big splash. At your age I'm certain you will be a long time contributor on the forum. Sure started with a great story, and I hope things work out for you. You sound like someone that can land on their feet in any given situation.

Re: Hello from Panama

@deckofficer
I appreciate the apologies. Thankyou. I hope you're assumptions are true, they sure sound comforting. And I aswell believe I'll be on these forums for quite some time, as I've said before, a lot of interesting people, subjects and stories.
