Hello from Oahu !

Hello everyone, I'm Brian, been sailing for a long time, mostly on small boats, but am interested in getting into cruising. I'm stoked to have found this forum as I believe it could be a nice place to get started.

Nice to be here,

thanks ,

brian

Hello Erika,
Well, I kind of co-own an Endeavor sloop with my brother and dad. That boat is called the Windsong two, and it's in Cape May New Jersey--kind of a work in progress. The only boat I truly own myself is a hobie16- named Taco which resides at My dads other house in Wilmington NC where I went to school and lived up until recently, when I dropped everything and moved out to Oahu. I miss being able to just jump on my little cat after work and go sail and fish, and surf, but there's lots of sailing out here, it's just taking me a little time to get involved.

I saw that you have a Cape Dory--beautiful boats--there was one anchored in the Harbor in Cape May where we used to keep our Ranger when I was a kid. My dad always said good things about them.

Nice to meet you.
aloha

Welcome to CF, Brian. I also owned a Hobie 16, for 28 years, and miss it greatly. It'd be perfect sailing it off the beach here in Nevis. My wife and I are coming out to Oahu in July to visit our daughter. She's trying to find a beach cat for rent in Kailua so we can sail when I get there.

So far as I have been able to find out, there is no place to rent a Hobie on Oahu. If you find out otherwise, please share! You can rent them at Kaanapali and Wailea beaches on Maui for about $50/hr and you can rent little trimarans on Waikiki.

There is a sailor who takes out his Hobie almost every afternoon in Kailua, and he took me along once for a great sail. His name is Robert, maybe ask around at the beach when any sailors come in.

I wish I was back in Kailua...

Hey yall, yeah I really miss hobie sailing, I'm actually really surprised that I don't see more here on Oahu, especially around town side where I live. I expected to see full blown fleets cruising diamond head regularly, but nodda. I guess it's kind of a dying thing everywhere--maybe we can all unite our passion for da Hobie's and start a new trend!
