Hello from Newfoundland

Hi everyone
I have just retired and my husband and I are planning our big adventure by leaving Newfoundland and sailing to Bahamas next fall. From there we hope to go wherever the wind blows us!!! I am thankful to be part of this group for the advice, knowledge and expertise available here. Looking forward to learning lots😄

Re: Hello from Newfoundland

Welcome, from PEI.

Congrats on your retirement.

What kind of boat do you have?

I've made that trip several times, from PEI, if you have any questions I can help with, let me know.

Cheers.
Paul.

Re: Hello from Newfoundland

Welcome aboard from SK prolfe! Congratulations on your retirement and it sounds like you both have some great adventures ahead of you.

My wife & I had the pleasure of spending a week in your very fine province last summer. The people were the friendliest and most hospitable of anywhere we've been...no exaggeration.

All the best to you.

Re: Hello from Newfoundland

Welcome PRolfe, you sound surprisingly familiar .

Great to have you officially join the fray here. As you know, lots of great info and experience here. But I gotta ask; why would you want to leave Newfoundland? You’re already cruising in “heaven on earth” .

… OK, maybe it’s not the warmest place. And the winds and seas can be very difficult at times. And the anchorages can be challenging and far between on the west coast...

Can we come with you?
(kidding, of course).

Re: Hello from Newfoundland

Welcome aboard.

We keep our summer boat in Lewisporte. And our winter boat in the Carribean.

I’ve gone from NL to Delaware twice. It’s a loooong slog down with lots of headwinds or no wind. We’ve also done the Bahamas. If you haven’t done it then it will be a whole new experience for you. You go “yippie” when you see 8’ of water!
