I'm loving getting to meet you all. So inspired was I that I got home from work last night, quick change out of the suit and heels into my sea boots to row out to the potential purchase, just to say "Hi"..... promptly fell in the tide as I very ungracefully exited said dingy and slipped on the duckboard!!!!!!!
Managed to haul myself out without too much drama, oh the joys!
Nothing ventured, nothing gained ....

Mid-winter swim; you're a tough one.
Two of my friends did that at Purau Bay, Lyttelton and could climb back in. Nearly died of exposure.
In the end one climbed on the other to get into the dinghy, from there to the boat and finally winched the other out. Another local here in Marlborough Sounds actually died while wife failed in her attempts to winch him in.
A good water exit strategy is important.

Hi there, trust me it was NOT intentional.... i detest being cold wet and submerged! I had access to the ladder so wasn't as bad as it sounds...
and rather close to the shore if I had to swim....
I remember that chap that pasted away, and his wife...

Suggest, as a wealth of info and potential help, talk to Billy Hanna, well known at the Jolly (Roger). He and Joan will still be going strong after all these years. Ask at the bar, or the yacht club. Lives on Beach Rd. Buy'im a beer. He's a real good sort, not much he doesn't know about boats, and the area.

Those northerners need to harden up . I often come across swimmers in Port Levy or Pigeon Bay, just along from Purau Bay, even in autumn. You need to avoid them in the dinghy.
