Hello from Michigan's Upper Peninsula

My name is Al. This year (2024) I get the pleasure of retiring from punching a clock for the betterment of others. To celebrate this milestone I became the new owner of a 1986 Com-Pac 27 (Mk 1). I've previously owned and sailed a Hunter 22 and a 1969 Morgan 22. The CP 27 is a solid change up for me.

I currently live on Lake Michigan in the Upper Peninsula and will do my sailing, for the first two seasons anyway, on Lake Michigan, as I get to know my new boat better.

I've been a lumber mill janitor, a radio DJ, a USN submariner, a mechanic, a chef, a caretaker of other people, a dad, a husband, a salesperson, a pharmacy tech, nursing school student, musician, lumberjack, ski/snowboard instructor ... I'm sure there is more.

I'm looking forward to becoming acquainted with other forum members, learning from them and, if I've something of value, sharing as well.

Until next time, fair winds and following seas ...

Absolutely Don. And thanks for the welcome. I'm currently cleaning and crawling around her on the hard making her mine. She was well taken care of so there is t a bunch of work to do but there IS always something to do. And I love every minute crawling around her nether regions inspecting and checking and planning. Even when it's only 30⁰ F outside.

Re: Hello from Michigan's Upper Peninsula

I wanted to add some pics of Zoe on her cradle in the local yard but I can't seem to figure out how to upload photos to the post or to a reply. Any assistance would be welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Al

Re: Hello from Michigan's Upper Peninsula

Greetings Al. Happy to see another Michigander on the forum!

We greatly enjoyed our boating in the upper lakes. If you have a chance tomhead east to the North Channel of Lake Huron, it is a beautiful place also.

Enjoy!

Jeff
