Talking Hello from Michigan

Hello all, I've been lurking your fine site for several months now just reading and enjoying all the great information and community. I'm a long way off from getting a boat or living the dream . However, between now and then I'm going to be reading this and learning all I can.

I'll be able to assist people with questions regarding wood work , mechanical , plumbing know how, how to get electrocuted and any other sorts of handyman information but have almost 0 knowledge of sailing. I was a sailor in the US Navy for 3 years but it was all shore duty (except a 5 day cruise off the coast of CA). I look forward to reading more great posts and learning from you all.

Fair Winds & Following Seas,

Barry D.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Got all your fingers? You must be a cautious carpenter.
Thanks for serving. Lots of us old Navy vets here. I had a LCDR go sailing with me in the early 80s. He finished out his career in the Navy without ever going out to sea except when I took him from Oahu to Molokai. He curled up into a ball and turned green.
regards,

Mark, forget the scenery and sailing, we have good beer here. Lots of it. That you'd really like.

detav007, welcome. I powerboat Lake Michigan extensively so know a little bit about that area. I also have a Hunter 17 for sale CHEAP. It has all the rigging and is virtually new. Think about it. It would be great on LSC.

Welcome to the forum!
It is always good to have folks with your type of knowledge. By the way, I'm a Kalamazooer. Glad to have you here,
Spencer

Thanks

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I love this site and it increases my desire to begin sailing sooner rather than later at an exponential rate. I'll enjoy my reading and look forward to the day I'll live the dream instead of dreaming it.
