Hello from Houston

About this time last year we purchased a 1970 Ericson 30 we call Family Adventure. We also adopted a little boy last year (he's 11) and we were searching for a family activity to get into that none of us had ever been exposed to; something we could all learn together. So now we have both a new son and a new boat; neither came with an instruction manual.

Our objective is to get our boat into tip top shape in the next month or two so that we can start with some short trips this summer. We're currently getting quotes for gel coat work, repair to some delamination on the bow, and new paint, including a bottom job. In parallel, we are going to be taking some sailing lessons from a local guru.

We're learning from the ground up so we look forward to soaking up your collective knowledge through this forum.

Thanks,

Rhonda & Thomas Faust

Welcome Aboard CF.

A lot of good info can be found here.

I get to spend about 1 week per month working on our boat in Seabrook. Good luck with your work

Hi Ronda & Thomas, sounds like you've got some adventures in store. I'm from Baytown and sail Galveston Bay. Hope to see ya out there.

Re: Hello from Houston

Welcome! When we aren't tearing the boat apart to get her ready for cruising, we sail on Galveston Bay. We have an 11 year old girl aboard. This is the perfect age to get them on a boat because they are so eager to learn and big enough to lend a helping hand. Hope you see you out there.

Re: Hello from Houston

Good to see you here, welcome!

I'm a newbie myself and I've found this to be a great forum for advice and entertainment. I used to live in H-Town, and sail Galveston Bay, you'll love it in your Ericson.

Happy Sailing
Paul & Mimi
