Hello from ( Gasp ! ) Missouri

Hi there! New to this forum, and sorta new to sailing!

"Sorta new" meaning that I've been sailing only since about July of last year.

My boat? Oh... a Dolphin Sr.

The only place I can sail around here is a conservation lake, just a few miles from town, so a Dolphin Sr. is just about the perfect boat for it. I usually go out for at least 4 hours at a time (yesterday, almost 5 hours total on the water - still waiting to see if I burned badly enough to peel, or if it'll just turn to tan), so I can log it and apply the hours to a 6-pack someday in the future, if that's where I want to take it.

My intentions to the future? To get a boat, and just... GO! I don't want to be tied down to schedules; to places to be, and times to be where and when and how and blah blah blah...

When I do manage (somehow) to get myself a blue-water boat, I may take it down to the Caribbean, taking some classes along the way, so I can do a little chartering for awhile... but where I'd love to be, is along the coast of Japan. Sailing the waters near Cheju Island, in the ROK. Running along the coastlines of the Philippines. Anchoring at Thailand, and exploring Bangkok and the local countryside. And, yes, eventually I'd expand my destinations list to a) China's coastlines, b) South America's coastlines, c) all the Mediterranean (Greece, Italy, etc), and so on.

I also intend to find my Sailing (and Life!) partner, along the way. I'm male, tall, and fairly in-shape for a 40 yr old. My partner should be female, between "old enough" without surpassing my own age, and attractive to my eyes.

I'm willing to work at Charters, or doing some sort of online work that doesn't nail me down in one place (or to a schedule), or whatever else might bring in a little cash to keep me (and my boat) going. (suggestions/donations welcomed! LOL)

So... I've probably said too much, without saying enough. Typical, but it is just an introduction.

May the wind be at your side, and the sun at your back (what I've found to be optimal, so far!) (and no conservation lakes in your future! too many sunken trees to watch out for/bang up against)

-Mathew
