Hello from Dave - New board member

Hi, I'm new to the board. Looks like a pretty friendly place so far.

I'm in the process of buying my first sailboat, but am not new to sailing.

I've cruised with friends, and even did a little ICYRA racing, but just never took the plunge on a boat of my own.

Dave,

Plan twice and buy once. Lots of great info here on a lot of different ways to go and boats to do it in. Fitting the right boat to the right person is a tricky business. Now that you have some experience it's time to figure out what kind of sailing fits you best. If you explore around here you can find a lot if different ideas and start to boil it down to something that fits you.

Good luck and keep sailing.

Thanks. I've been tormenting myself over this purchase for about 4 days, and doing a lot of reading on various sites about boat buying.

I was fortunate to find a good quantity of owner writeups on the Hunter 240 - which is the boat I'm looking at right now.

Aloha DGM,
Welcome aboard! No matter what you intend to buy it is always a good idea to look at all the possibilities and price everything. I'm glad you've found owner writeups. That's a good start. You might find a Practical Sailor or other mag article that compares the Hunter to other boats about the same length and features.
Kind regards,
JohnL
