Hello from Costa Rica
Hello! I'm new here, currently don't own a boat of any kind, but I'm in the process of planning a 37' catamaran build to get started later this year. I'm presently in Costa Rica with my wife and kids. During the day I'm a software engineer, and in the evenings and weekends I'm figuring out how to find all the things I need for the build locally, with mixed success.

jtregunna,
Well, welcome aboard, friend. Sounds to me like you have a lot on your plate, and you're going to be creative about meeting your goals. Welcome, also, to your good lady, and the rest of the family.
Ann

Welcome to CF..
I'd suggest if using marine ply you bite the bullet and import Bruynzel Ply for the build.. if not available locally.

Re: Hello from Costa Rica
There were some americans building fiberglass ferryboats somewhere on the pacific side. An acquaintance who knows them said (I asked), that they had imported a shipping container of supplies from the 'States. They might let you add to their next order and save on shipping costs. I don't know whether large amounts of supplies are available locally, but I'd suspect that they'd be super expensive, like everything else in CR.

One thing I've learned in my years here, it's a lousy country to source marine ply from (in fact, I've only ever seen small amounts in any one place at any given time). I will be importing some. Thankfully, I have found a local source for the foam core materials I'm set to use which will reduce what I have to import.
Thanks to everyone for your welcomes, I appreciate it.

I spent a month traveling around there some years back with Heredia as my home base. Many beautiful places and people! Good luck in your plans!
