While there isn't any cruising anywhere in Colorado, we do have some places to sail and my wife and I are none the less excited to chase the dream of one day cruising around the world. I grew up in Southern
California and use to sail on weekends with my
family mostly on 30' Catalinas, but that was almost 20 years ago. I have sailed probably a dozen times since then on my friends F18 Capricorn
catamaran. Amazing
boat for some white knuckle speed sailing!
I've been in Denver for 3.5 years and haven't sailed since moving out here, but plan to take an
ASA 101 class on Dillion Lake in May/June. Dillion Lake is at an elevation of 9017' so we have to wait till May/June for the lake to thaw out.
After that, we are considering a week or so
ASA 103/104 + 114 class potentially through LTD Sailing in
Grenada.
We have a ton to learn, but you gotta start somewhere and one day we hope to be cruising on our own
boat on the open blue seas.
