Hello from Colorado

I've been browsing this site on and off for a year now but thought it was time to add a intro:

Living in Colorado and last year I started helping crew on the Wednesday night races. Hoping to knock out the ASA101 test and practical soon. My goal is to work towards bareboat cert. and ultimately be able to charter a 30' mono or cat for a family vacation. My dream and probably not my family's is to skipper a boat from FL. to the Bahamas for starters.

Headed out to LA on 6/29-7/2/17 for business and hoping to find a opportunity to Day sail with someone (know where to post that). Also posted on Latitude 38.

Lots of great info here! Looking forward to putting it to use!

Desired boat while landlocked - flying Scot for now.

explanation of user name - used to live in NJ and surfed longboards in my high school years (seems like forever ago)

Re: Hello from Colorado

Welcome aboard longboarder! There seem to a few folks joining up from Colorado. Do you all live around the same lake?

Re: Hello from Colorado

Great question! We've got several "good" sized lakes - need some artificial swells/currents/tides to keep things interesting - IMHO

Ha! Typical summer day up here on lake Dillon will give you plenty of excitement. At least you can predict the tides and swells. Not so with the weather in the Rockies, two words "micro climate". There is a great sailing community up here, just bring your O2 tank🤣

Cheers
Will

Valid point Will! We had a pretty good gust front come through Wednesday evening - fortunately we were on the ramp loading up at the time. Cheers -
