Hello from Chesapeake Bay Mariner 36 (NH) Sailor

I sail on the Chesapeake Bay aboard my 1980 Mariner 36 (NH) sloop, "Sparkle Plenty". She lies in Shady Side, MD on Parish Creek near the mouth of the West River in a small Mom and Pop marina, Leatherbury Point. This is the harbor for old Shady Side, an ageless waterman's village (and now a marine sanctuary) about 15 miles south of Annapolis. Bay work boats still ply for oysters and crabs, and Ospreys are abundant.

Shortly, there will be a second Mariner 36 (a ketch named "Kittywake") in our small marina. With under 100 hulls built between 1978 and 1981, Mariners are rather rare, New England built blue water cruisers. Click for the Mariner Yacht Owners User Group.

Would love to meet any Mariner owners on the forum.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I used to own a Mariner 35 but very different from yours and built of wood. I had a friend with a Mariner 32 much the same design as yours.
kind regards,

As I am considering purchasing a Mariner 36, I would welcome the opportunity to be a volunteer crew member.

Pilot2, you might note that you are responding to a seven year old thread.

Welcome aboard. I know your location well. I keep my Cape Dory at Flag Harbor. Just turn right at Can 77A.
