Hello from Arkansas

Hello everyone!
I'm 51 and getting back into sailing after a 15 year absence. I kept a 30 ft sailboat on Lake Pontchartrain for several years but it's been way too long. Currently living in Northwest Arkansas, and Current plan is to find a blue water capable boat within the next two years and cast off the lines in 3-5 years for live aboard / permanent cruising.
Until then... Learn as much as I can and Prepare for the adventure!

Fair winds!
Mark

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Hi, Mark,

Welcome aboard.

If you already have a clear idea of what you want in a boat, start looking soonest. We had a list of what we wanted when we went to upgrade from our first Insatiable; we looked for 3 years before the right boat came along. Oh, incidentally, I thiink the list really helps, we also had on it some things we would not accept. Cuts through a lot of broker baloney..

Ann

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Welcome! Good suggestions by Ann. My definition of the type of boat I wanted changed over a 3-year time when I left the Chesapeake Bay region and started sailing on San Francisco Bay. If it's possible, try to sail offshore as much as you can to get a feel for what you might like.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

Good luck on your sailing adventures and have fun!

Here are two of my favorite tips for newcomers to the forum:

WIKI
Take a look at the Cruising WIKI that is found via the tab up on the top menu bar of the forum. It has a LOT of information in it you might find fun, interesting, or helpful.
____________

Looking for Quick Answers?

This is the best and fastest method I have found to the answers I seek here.
Since you are relatively new to the forum, here is my favorite friendly forum search tip: Look at the green menu bar on the forum pages for the drop down "Search" menu. Click on that to drop down a list of search functions. From that drop down menu select the GOOGLE CUSTOM search feature (the second box down) and then enter several different descriptive terms for your topic of interest. That will do a Custom google search of ONLY this site and it is likely to find answers to your questions or results for you. Note: this is different from using the regular forum search box or field. Also note, this is NOT found if you use the CF app. It IS found if you use a web browser such as Safari, etc.
