I'm a 3 yr owner of a Victoria 18 sloop that has been anchored in my yard unused, long story. After a turn of events, I finally found someone as interested in sailing as I am. Just beginning to explore the parts on my boat and their use. Attempting to learn the rigging, and explore the local water way. New to boating and sailing, although sailing has been my childhood dream. I have a lot to learn. Looking forward to meeting other members.

I would say you have the anchoring in the yard pretty well under control. have you considered taking some lessons? Sailing really isn't that hard to learn but a good proper start gets you going quicker and you learn the language of sailing as well as the standards and terms for all the parts. It's not that is technical but it does get you headed out well and makes certain you have a safe trip as well. I should think you can have a lot of fun on a boat like that. many members here started with smaller boats and I know I did too. They are just a whole lot of fun.

Hope you enjoy the forum. Please post questions in the section that seems to fit and it should be just fine. Lots of people here are more than anxious to help new people to sailing. Most of us can't see why everyone doesn't want to sail but that is how we are too.
