Hello from Adelaide, South Australia

Thanks for allowing me to join your forum. I can't call myself a cruising yachty yet as I've just plucked an Adams 36 Traditional hull and deck from a back yard and trucked it to a boat club where I intend to try and finish her. A yanmah 27hp diesel has been fitted and the shaft run through but the motor has never been run. The rest of the boat is a blank canvas though a lot of new gear was included. I can see this forum will be of great benefit to me as I'm way out of my comfort zone with this project. I've been a boaty since I started fishing with my Grandfather as a boy and have owned boats of one form or another ever since including a Macgregor trailer sailor. I'm also an active member of Coast Guard. I look forward to meeting you all, Cheers Yalwal.

Hello from Adelaide, South Australia

Welcome, and good luck on your build.
Make sure to share pictures occasionally to keep us abreast of your progress, if you would.

You're right in that this forum is an invaluable resource for doing what you're attempting.
As I've heard some people say though, you need to get good at separating the wheat from the chaff.

G'day, hoping your boys aren't quite so good in the third test.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF Yalwal!

You have chosen a big task. Good luck!

Several members of the forum have a lot of experience doing the "build out" of bare hulls and even building hulls too.

There is a wealth of information on this site. Many hours of good reading.

Here is my favorite tip to pass on to newcomers to the forum:

Looking for Quick Answers?

This is the best and fastest method I have found to the answers I seek here.
Since you are relatively new to the forum, here is my favorite friendly forum search tip: Look at the green menu bar on the forum pages for the drop down "Search" menu. Click on that to drop down a list of search functions. From that drop down menu select the GOOGLE CUSTOM search feature (the second box down) and then enter several different descriptive terms for your topic of interest. That will do a Custom google search of ONLY this site and it is likely to find answers to your questions or results for you. Note: this is different from using the regular forum search box or field. Also note, this is NOT found if you use the CF app. It IS found if you use a web browser such as Safari, etc.

Re: Hello from Adelaide, South Australia

Above is some inspiration for you. I brought a Dunc 37 and gave her a spruce up and sailed from Adelaide to Tassie to far North Queensland. Good luck with the fit out and never give up the end result will come eventually!
