Hello From A New P26 Owner

Hello,
Recently purchased a Pearson 26 Weekender. Not sure of the hull and or exact model as of right now. It was purchased from Joe on Lake Winnapasake NH and will have a new home in Wickford RI after a trailer journey down. Inside looks like new, I'm not kidding, the fiberglass looks brand new. New, very well done, electrical system, new sink, new head, new stove, new cushions, new non skid. The hull needs to have some serious work done, but that will happen over the winter. I also want to put in a GPS, AWA, Bearing, and some other instruments, which I will need some knowledge on. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say, and I hope you can help me with some of my projects. Thanks

Welcome! We have a Pearson 39-2 that we are very happy with. I sometimes get overwhelmed with projects, but the radio and the GPS were the only newish things on ours when we bought it last year.

Re: Hello From A New P26 Owner

For coastal cruising just get a fixed mount vhf and a depth sounder (fish finder type is good). Put the vhf antenna at the masthead. A handheld gps will work well enough - we do Florida/Bahamas with a cheap one - unless you're really in to electronics.
They're nice boats with spacious cockpits. Only problem I am aware of is the rudder construction.

Congratulations, we used to own a P26 One-design, great sailing little boat and I'm sure you will love it. If conditions start to get sporty, make sure to put the lower hatchboard in. (Don't ask)

Congratulations! Pearsons have a boat for every length and I think you've got a great one.
