Hello Everyone!
My name is Robert. I am married with daughter (9 Months). I am about to be 30. And am hoping to buy my first sailboat. 17' Newport.
I've been a long time reader of the forums but obviously just started posting!

Re: Hello Everyone!
Welcome! Oh, I don't know, she looks old enough to drink to me, just not on watch. Hey, have a great time learning basics of sailing on the Newport, then if you like it, consider moving up to a pocket cruiser that you can take out overnight and which introduces you to the rest - nav, engines, weather, anchoring, electrical systems, electronics, and the like. Be sure to post when you have a question - everyone here started at some point, and we're all somewhere on the journey.

Re: Hello Everyone!
Gonna be picking up my N17 today ... I know it needs a little bit of work. Where on the forum can I start a thread about the N17 inquire about help?

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hey Rob - Congratulations! As to where you should post I would guess that either "Our Community" or "Monohull Sailboats" would be the place to start. Make sure you post pictures!

Re: Hello Everyone!
The centerboard will not stay up for some reason. Has a rope and winch system. Gotta figure this out.

Re: Hello Everyone!
Hmmmm. Could it be that the rope is not attached to the centerboard.......At least, you're getting to start off with a simple problem. Congratulations on your purchase.

At least it should not be too hard to fix, Don't go down the anti grav route though, that one is tough
