Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

Trip to Orkanys was ok. We picked the right day for it. Currently in Wick after crossing the Pentland Firth - downwind for the first time in weeks!
Off to Banff tomorrow.

Thanks - off to Aberdeen today after 2 days storm bound in Peterhead (NE Scotland). Hoping for warm weather (11degC). 600nm to go.

Let us know where they put you in Aberdeen, dont think I have ever seen any yachts there, might be they put you up in the Albert dock up by the fish market.'
In any case, Aberdeen is well worth a visit.

I spent several hours just staring at the pictures on your blog. I love the intense grey-ness in the landscape...so powerful and full of emotion.

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

Glad - you like the photos on the blog. We are hoping this grey stuff will go away and for it to return to how it was on the West Coast of Scotland - warm and sunny.
Currently stuck in Aberdeen waiting for VTS to let us leave ... It's like being in an airport! Missed our tidal gate to Arbroath so it is Montrose today.

Should have mentioned it before, for a small boat, always best to arrive and leave around low water, much less traffic. I can only get in and out 3 hrs either side of HW (thats on my working boat).
Well worth taking time to explore the city.
BTW, what were the berthing costs?
Enjoy the trip south, see from your blog that Eyemouth is on the list, thats a nice place to stopover, and further south you have the option of anchoring off Lindisfarne, also a nice spot.
Just hope the summer starts some time soon, although the winds are remaining pretty light for the next few days

Re: Hello - currently sailing Round Britain

We arrived at Aberdeen pretty much at low water which is why we had good treatment. Left at low water as well. Sailing at 7 knots on a beam reach about 12nm north of Arbroath. The sun has come out and the birds are singing - on land anyway! Looking forward to some Smokies.
