I've lurked for a few months, decided to sign up, I like the atmosphere.
Me:
Tinknocker by
trade,
HVAC airside, worked the tools for a bunch of years, now I'm a draftperson (CAD/CAM/BIM). I have a pilots
license (PP-ASEL) and have skydived 12 or so times (enough to solo), I live in the
Hudson Valley, NY. I also own a Singer 20u and know how to use it (patterns are patterns, it's just metal vs fabric).
Me Sailing:
My parents bought a
Cape Dory 25 when I was 12, based on the
Hudson River. Sailed many days and weekends, with trips down the Hudson, thru Hells Gate, and into LI Sound (and back). When I was 20 they bought a
Tayana 37 and lived aboard for a bunch of years, up and down the
east coast. I sailed with them when they were in town.
I owned a 19'
Lightning for a few years in my 20's, sailed on the Hudson and lakes in the Adirondacks.
Me now: (in my early 50s)
I took the US Sailing basic
keel boat in May, the US Sailing basic cruising in early July, and then bare
boat chartered a
Pearson 37 for a week on the LI Sound with my wife in late July (I think she should be referred to as “The Admiral” here, but I'm new, you guys/gals will let me slide).
BEST TIME EVER (...for me, my wife got a little woosy on a run from Port Jeff to Ziegliers Cove, but she is looking forward to our scheduled trip to
Oyster Bay in early October)
Nice to meet ya!
