Hello and Thanks for Having Me
Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all of you helpful people. I am in the process of buying my first sail boat - a 1977 Catalina 27 - and while I am super excited I must confess to a bit of apprehension. Which is why I am so thankful to have found such an awesome support group.
I look forward to sharing many tales of bumbling blunders and, hopefully, at least a few blissful days on the water.

Re: Hello and thanks for having me
Welcome. I have many a fine memories aboard a sailing a 1976 Catalina 27. I once had everything just right and was able to sit on the bow watching the dolphins play. I was single handing. The boat was sailing herself. Enjoy your new boat!

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Catalina 27 is a great choice. Congratulations.
If you haven't sailed much before then a basic sailing class will help. Especially important is learning the rules of the road.
kind regards,

Re: Hello and Thanks for Having Me
Thanks for the big welcome everyone. I finally get to go meet my new (to me) boat this week. To say that I'm excited would be quite an understatement.
Capt. Dave - just started reading your blog and all I can say is "wow". Blunt Inspiration. Thank you.

That's great advice! I did take an ASA 101 course some years ago and have been fortunate enough to crew on a few friend's boats here and there. I am also a commercial mariner (200 ton captain's license) and am quite familiar with the rules of the road. I still anticipate quite a few bumps in that proverbial road though, and I'm brimming with anticipation at learning from them.
Thanks again everyone.

Re: Hello and Thanks for Having Me
Sorry, didn't mean to imply that you didn't know about sailing. There have been so many here who decide to buy boats without knowing the basics. I kind of go into automatic.
kind regards,
