I'm miller
adams with a
steel roberts 38 in
san carlos mexico.... started this journey in the
Philippines where as a 17 yr old I had to take a launch ride across Manila bay to get to the embassy and then a 20 min taxi ride to the american
School. I discovered that when the monsoons kicked in was when i loved taking that launch ride.. .fast forward to 1967 and a WWII class destroyer that took me through the
Med, suez
canal and Red Sea down to
Madagascar and back to
Newport. countless hours on the fantail just looking at the horizon... continued to feed my nautical soul. But the
game changer was a 1973 stint on Ascension Island, an absolutely boring place to be; 700
men and 6 British nurses (in 3 months never actually saw any nurses). One day an australian named Laurie Piper showed up in a 26' SCOD (south coast one design), he had left land of Oz with $75. I signed on board, abruptly left my job and sailed 2600 miles to Fortaleza
Brazil. Changed my life. all I wanted to do was sail oceans.
Whew .. .after many years of houses, wives,
kids, jobs to pay for it all, i'm close to dropping the lines and heading out in Mar '19 with the
Pacific Puddle jump party to the
Marquesas ...
Happy to have rejoined this forum
