Hello

I'm new to this, my best friend did 26 years in the navy, me I was not that smart and did the army, have some great experiences, I believe it though me to be a better person . The reason I'm looking into this is because it could be a meaning of saving my daughters life. She is 14 respectful, A student, but with severe allergies to things that we use everyday and are all around us. Who could say that corn, wheat, grass to mention some could kill someone. Well nice to meet you .

Re: Hello

Hello Gismo I did Air Force, and while I probably didn't figure it out until I got out, it was waaay good for me and I did proudly serve. Hope you find some good ideas around here. Getting offshore and away from all the pollution and commercialism is a great idea, it comes with homeschooling, fishing for food and learning new languages. It is not without contact with allergens tho .. mold is a battle. I'd recommend a couple of videos while you're looking around; "Being out There" and "Ice Blink" both about sailing families. Maybe at Amazon or possibly at Netflix? Good luck to you.

Re: Hello

Welcome Gizmo,

I'm active Army right now. 5yrs left to retirement. (Can't wait)

I've heard of kids saying yard work is a health hazard, but this might be the first time I've seen it could be true. Hopefully you and your daughter will be able to share some time on the water without any ill effects.

Welcome to the group. There is lots of info to research here on the Forum.

Best of luck to you.

I've heard Costa Rica is a nice place to visit. I heard there's lots of retired Americans around there too. The closest I've come to there is Panama for a couple days and Colombia on various trips. Nice places.

Re: Hello

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Thanks for your service. I did nearly 30 in the Navy and my allergies to grasses and flowering trees went away when I was stationed on any coast. I didn't have food allergies though.
Good luck in wherever you sail.
kind regards,
