Hello

New member somewhat new to sailing researching monohull 70ís era to cruise when retiring in three years $ are limited so many ? Solid hull ? Full keel? Skeg hung rudder? Updated electronics? Sometimes seams a daunting task ...........

I like the old heavy cruising monohulls for offshore work. If I ever shed my catamaran, look for me in a Westsail 42.

Welcome aboard mikemilt! May I suggest you look one or two decades earlier? There are some great bargains to be had in 60s boats... and definitely solid hulls... there was a Spencer 35 that needed an engine going for under $3K in San Diego recently. You aren't going to find many boats, new or old, with a more solid hull... Good luck!
