Hallo from Sicily

Hi all, I go through your threads often because I find them rich of sailing tips with a very limited number of off topic messages on non sail related silly arguments, but only now with my first post I register here
I sail as much as I can everything with a sail and generally I love marine environment as such
This is my second year with a racing (and a bit cruising) sailboat which I use for practicing and day sailing with friends
It's an old glorious Farr 39 IMS which I am refitting myself bit by bit, at the moment I have the mast down for standing rod rigging replacement after 20 and more years humble service and I am happy with using my hands to help fixing it
Happy sailing everyone
Hope to meet someone of you in eastern Sicily coastlines

Welcome to CF -

You're what my dad used to call "a goner". We are refitting our old "glorious" boat and wish you well. This is a great resource and I've learned a lot here. Good luck with your refit!

Re: Hallo from Sicily

Chow Marco, Did I say it right? I would love to tour Sicily some day. I knew someone from Palermo many years ago. Went through the Straits of Messina on a ship many years ago and always wanted to return and explore the area. Best of luck with the refit.

Re: Hallo from Sicily

Let's say a "happy goner"
Mine is an almost rational choice
Due to a happy growing little family I mostly daysail, my boat is in the water and entirely functional although largely perfectible, so I sail when I have enough time and repair/improve/fix when I'm in the mood [emoji4]
i sail faster than most if not all recreational sailboats here, and i have reasonable full equipped interior to eventually cruise in the future
this is my lover

Hi Marco.. welcome to CF..
Stop often in Sicily when on deliveries.. often in San Leone on the South coast, anchor in Syracuse and have gotten quite fond of Mazara del Vallo..
If you see a boat called 'Yaki Tori' (DuFour 45) say hello.. the owners a nice guy.. but an Italian..
