Greetings from the Oceanaire

Hi all. I've been following for a bit but just joined. Husband Chris and I are lifelong power boaters, but I'm a relatively new sailor. In the last few years we've done ASA certifications, chartered in Florida and the BVI, attended boat shows, read all we could, and purchased our cruising boat -- a 1980 Irwin 52 center console ketch. We sailed the Oceanaire from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where we found her, to St. Simons Island, Georgia, where she will be based until the last chick leaves the nest.

The previous owners did an excellent refit, so we are really enjoying the boat, though it's currently on the hard having assorted mechanical work done. Can't wait to cut the lines and sail, fish, explore, dive from our own boat, and generally "live the life aquatic!" Cheers!

Re: Greetings from the Oceanaire

Well, welcome to CF Renee. You are a lot further along the learning curve than lots of the "meets and greets" that appear on these pages, and I bet that you ain't gonna ask us what kinda boat to buy... a welcome change!

So enjoy your new child, er, boat and bombard us with questions when they arise. There is a lot of accumulated wisdom here, along with a lot of BS. You soon will learn to tell them apart.

Cheers,

Jim

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

That looks like a well kept Boat that would be a very nice roomy Liveaboard that will cause boat appreciation or envy in many.

Have fun on the water and on the forum too.
