Thumbs up Greetings from the great white north!

Hi all, I know I posted a thread last evening in the liveaboard forum . A thread I may live to regret but hey, I wanted second opinions and am getting quite a few good ones. Anyways, I thought I'd introduce myself here. I am a native newfoundlander (water water everywhere) and have had this dream since I can remember. And now there's a remote chance of it coming to fruition.

Welcome!

I haven't made it to Newfoundland by boat yet, but I've been there by car. One of these days!

I'll be waiting patiently here...I missed drake paragon when they were here in 2013, and vowed I wouldn't miss anyone else.

Howdy and Welcome Aboard CF!

You are in Newfoundland.

I just spent 25 days cruising the Newfoundland coast (St. John's to Trinity Port and several other outports).

I enjoyed seeing Newfoundland. I will soon be starting a new thread (topic) on that subject, and illustrating it with some photos I made while on my cruise.

Newfoundland is a great place to cruise, and I met many nice people (Newfoundlanders) there. I hope to visit again in the future.

I will send you a Private Message (PM) with some tips on navigating this forum.

Have fun in the forum and good luck on your future sailing plans.

I hope you visit again soon too.....the island is a great place to visit, not so great to live on given the current economic issues. We are the friendliest people in north america, as some will tell you that they have been welcomed into homes for a cup of tea and a chat.

Re: Greetings from the great white north!

Hi shyguy68, and welcome. You live in a stunningly beautiful part of the world, and it is one we hope to begin exploring by boat soon. We’re on our way to NFLD as I type. We left from Thunder Bay, ON on Lake Superior a few years ago. Had an unexpected layover in Lake Ontario, and are now in Baie-Comeau with a month to get to The Rock.

We’re heading for Corner Brook right now, but expect to spend a few years exploring the province. We’ll likely get down your way next season (or perhaps the season after … who knows…).

BTW, my family beckons from St. John’s area, and there are still lots of my bloodline around (O’Reilly). My cousin owns O’Reilly’s Pub down on George Street.
