Greetings from Tampa

Hello Everyone,
I actually registered for the forum a few years ago, but then kind of forgot about it for a while. I was handing out at another sailing forum but got tired of all the negativity there. I think your forum has a much more positive vibe, giving constructive solutions instead of just telling people their dreams are not possible.

I live in Tampa, FL where I sail my 1981 Com-Pac 23. Right now I mostly daysail and weekend, but have plans to upgrade to something in the low 30's sometime within the next year and start doing some longer trips.

Anyway, great forum here.

Hi, just replied to your other post. My home base is Tampa bay also. Were currently in Vinoy basin. I sailed a 23 footer for years before stepping up to a Morgan 33 and moving aboard when the kids went their way. Our plans were to visit the Mississippi basin and area this summer which had to change for a few reasons.

Great to meet you!!! Good luck with your dreams - and you are so right - people here are very positive, have some very good ideas, and on occasion are even fairly amusing

Hello BluewaterMD,

Glad to see another member from the home port.

Where in the Tampa area do you sail?

Hello BluewaterMD, we are planning on being in Tampa in the coming months, maybe for some time. Any recommendations for both a good marina and/or anchoring spots?

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you posting here. I think the Compac 23s are pretty great little boats.
kind regards,

I am also a blue water MD. I worked outside the USA as an ophthalmologist for twenty-eight years, and some of those years happened while we were out cruising. I would cruise a little and work a little.

There are lots of offshore work opportunities for blue water MD types.
