Hi Roger,

Yes indeed! Looking forward to the regatta again next year. The engine has been finished but won't be installed until January. Most likely we will catching the bus to the regatta rather than sailing, but will still enjoy the camaraderie.

Hi Andrew always good to see Aussie sailors here I have my boat in Middle Harbour Sydney ...Beneteau Oceanis 390 ...later this year hopeing to head for the Whitsundays along with all the other cruising fraternity ...enjoy your boat you have a very good seaworthy yacht ...might see you sometime always ready for a chat to likeminded people

I too have a full keel heavy displacement boat. Brianlara is on the right track about learning to use, not fight, your propwalk. To go astern, get started in reverse, and occasionally kick the stern back on course with a quick shot of forward with appropriate rudder angle, quick enough to avoid killing all of your sternway. To turn the boat around in close quarters, do as just described, but use the opposite rudder angle when you kick the stern over. If you have a right-handed prop, you will turn in a clockwise direction.
