Greetings from St Thomas!

Ahoy Yawl,

I'm new to this forum and this is our first attempt to make a posting.

I can see there's a wealth of information from some very experienced sailors.

We are Kirk, Cath & Stuart McGeorge.

We started this great adventure in Honolulu in 1994 when we bought and moved aboard Carol Post's Worldcruiser Pilothouse 37, BECHE de MER, which we re-named POLLY BROOKS (after me mum) because we couldn't really see ourselves crossing oceans on a boat named after a sea slug.

After 25,000 nautical miles and smiles across the Pacific, Indian & Atlantic Oceans we arrived in the Caribbean in 2002 and traded up to our current love which we rescued from the Dock of Dispare in the Harbor of Neglect. She was a sad sight, resting on the bottom of a rich lagoon. After three years of blood, sweat & tears, we are now the proud owners of a Sparkman & Stevens designed Hylas 49. which we've christened GALLIVANTER. We've lived aboard her full time while bringing her back up to being basically seaworthy while learning the in's and out's of parenthood by raising our two-and-a-half year old son.

Life is good.

We intend to stay here and upgrade the boat while arrr boy learns the ropes and gains his sealegs. Then we're off for Panama and back into the Pacific for another round of boat drinks and fresh adventures.

I'm hoping, that through this forum, we might be able to hook-up with some old friends, make some new ones and have a glass of wine sometime, somewhere.

Did she sink in a hurricane?

Where is LaVida Marina?

I lived in St. Thomas 20 years ago: In the Lagoon close to Red Hook.
Good hurricane hole it was, but understand you can not tie up to the mangrooves any more. (Some enviromental issue?)

St. Thomas was screwed up back then with rush hour traffic and racial tension. We moved to St. Croix and found that island to be a bit more relaxed.

Not sure I would have the guts and willpower to do what you went through over the last 3 years. My hat off Sir.
