Greetings from Montana
Hello everyone!
Yes we are currently in a land locked state. We have been on this path for 8 1/2 years and getting closer to our dream. We have spent our last several vacations looking at boats and last week found something pretty special and are moving forward towards a possible purchase.... Wahoo. We both work in healthcare and are hoping to be able to work part of the year and sail part of the year. We hope to be on the water by Fall 2014. Oh and no we are not seasoned sailors given we live on the prairie so we do have lots to learn. Looking forward to gleaning words of wisdom here.

Re: Greetings from Montana
Welcome I lived in Missoula for almost ten years. To paraphrase Stienbeck Montana would be the greatest place in the world if it only had an ocean. Good luck with the plan

Re: Greetings from Montana
Welcome aboard to a great forum & group of people! I researched my boat, bought it, and now have to learn how to sail it. My wife & I have invited experienced friends to sail on our first cruise and show us the ropes...... or lines.

Re: Greetings from Montana
We are currently progressing towards a purchase of a Tayana 37. Things are going well so far and are hoping to be boat owners in the next month but won't be able to fully liveaboard until fall 2014. The cart is a little in front of the horse on this deal however with the given economic situation we decided if we could find the right boat at the right price we would purchase it now rather than waiting. We have seen too many people put off their dreams waiting for everything to fall into place perfectly and we decided that we would jump headlong into our dream and then let the pieces fall into place.....I won't tell you who my financial advisor is on this one because he is tearing his hair out and thinks we are completely insane and I am pretty sure he would deny any association with us if you asked him. On the other hand though our friends and family are wildly excited (and jealous) for us. We can't wait.

Welcome aboard Great plan you have, buy now and enjoy your life. Were a little ahead of you and only 4 locks from open ocean.
