Greetings from Memphis,Tn.

This is my first sailing forum and it appears to be packed with plenty of info.

I am 50 years old, and my last and only sailing experience was on the Chesapeak Bay 34 years ago. Grew up in Bermuda, Newport, and Annapolis, worked many of the shows that came, but never sailed except that one time.

Since entering the begining of the autumn of my life, there are somethings I wish to do before I check out. First is to learn to sail, and second, to spend the rest of my life exploring the world from the wet side.

Recently I have been checking out some schools in Florida, and checking out some 27+ footers on ebay. Guess I will be reading everything to date on this forum for the time being.

Welcome aboard. Ironic (or at least to me) but I sometimes work in Memphis and sail on the Chesapeake Bay.

Is there anywhere in Memphis to sail? Even something small...

Welcome to the Forum BlackOak! There's plenty of info here to help you find the perfect boat. Try using this search engine, which is specific for Cruisers Forum. It works better than the "Search" link in the navigation bar up top.

There is a marina on the Memphis side of the Mississippi river just south of the I55 bridge. I saw some sail boats in it and sailing on the river

Aloha Black Oak,
Welcome aboard! I used to sail Wildflower sloops in the little lake at NAS Memphis in the 70s. Lots of fun. Hope you can get back on the water soon.
Kind regards,
JohnL
