Greetings from another Newbie

Hi,

Just wanted to say hello to the board.

My family lived aboard for 2 years and our home anchorage was in Key West. Currently we are landlocked in Ohio, but looking to get back on the water.

Does anyone have any suggestions of free moorings or places to live off the hook that are closer to Miami? I'm a nurse, and am looking to dinghy in and work. Would love any information on other south Florida cities as well, in this regard.

Thanks,

Kymberli

Aloha Kymberli,
Welcome aboard!! Hope you can find the answer to your question here on the forum. Great group of folks and I know there are some people in your area. Free? Maybe inexpensive.
Kind Regards

Try Dinner Key, dinghy dock may cost ya, not sure
Try Stuart, the anchorages are a few blocks from Martin Memorial Hospital.

A Second on Stuart

I agree with the advice above that you consider the Stuart area. I hesitate to say "never," but the liklihood of finding what you're looking for near Miami is remote. And, FWIW, there are quality-of-life reasons (IMHO) to bypass Miami.

I would think that your high-demand profession would allow you to find a nice situation in a much better location, in terms of quality of life.

By the way, your comments elsewhere regarding the poor pooch that wouldn't go aboard her owners' vessel were most welcome, especially the information on catheterizing.

I haven't been here long myself, but welcome aboard!
