Greetings from Alaska

New to the forum and just wanted to say hi. My wife and I own a Rosborough RF246 diesel power boat which we use to cruise Prince William Sound during the summer.

Greetings, and WELCOME aboard Akbpilot.
How does an Alaskan get an Afghani screenname (AKB = Kabul Int’l Airport)?
Prince William Sound looks like a sailor’s paradise!

Aloha Pilot,
Alaska bush pilot? Welcome aboard! I'd like to do some cruising up there when my boat gets back in the water.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Good Evening,
Thanks Gord and John for the welcome.

I'll have to remember that Gord, never knew the Afgani link.
Yes, PWS is a cruiser's dream. Mostly protected, hundreds of bays and islands, incredible wildlife, and great fishing. We port out of Valdez in the NE corner of PWS. We purchased our present boat two years ago, and have cruised nearly 3000 nm during our forays. Most of our trips are 2 -7 days, so we have done some areas multiple times. I estimated we have covered 10% or so.

You got the handle right John. In my former life I flew for nearly 20 years up here, sold my plane a few years back. We got the bug for boating, and are really enjoying our choice. If you do head this way, I would recommend "The Cruising Guide to Prince William Sound" by Jim and Nancy Lethcoe. It's our bible as we explore, and is pretty dead-on. They spent nearly 30 years exploring every nook and cranny, taking soundings and checking bottom. Lots of great history and insights too.

Once again, thanks for the welcomes
