Greetings

Brand new to the board.

Just found it today. 23 years retired Navy here. Started sailing a Hunter 216 and a Hobie Getaway 2 years ago. Time to see if I really wanted to sail or not. Joined the local Sailtime here to see for sure. Sailing on a Hunter 33 and have completed ASA 101, 103 and 105.

Looking forward to hearing from those that are just starting on bigger boats as well.

Welcome! Whether you end up liking sailing or not, I'm sure you'll be educated or at least amused by this forum!

Always nice to welcome new local sailors to the forum. My wife and I are on the York River.

FWIW, my wife and I started sailing the same way you did. Sailed some small boats, tooks some ASA classes, and joined a boat club for a year. Avoid buying your own boat as long as possible. Your sailing will never be cheaper than it is now.

Once you can handle the Hunter you could learn something else with less effort than you might imagine.

Aloha Norfolk,
Welcome aboard!! Good to have another retired Navy guy here. Sailed out of Norfolk once and Little Creek once with friends. Certainly is a different kind of sailing than out here in the Pacific.
Hope you enjoy this forum as much as I do. If you've got any questions at all there is always someone here that can help.
Kind Regards,
JohnL
