Re: GOOD MORNING
hi james
Thanks for welcome. She is a russian designed boat wich i got plans online at boatdesing.net. I started building her in june 2009 and i am hoping to be complete next year march . so far it has been quite easy considering it my first build and there are a lot of photos available. my main concern is the keel and mast.
cheers for now

Hi Colin, there is not a lot of info around on your boat and what there is can be confusing; She's either 26 Feet or 30 Feet, or someplace in between, the LOA is either identical to the LWL (Or not) and just about every dimensional reference has more options than you can shake a stick at. The Russian designer may well be the next Robert Perry but it would seem that the builders of his designs take free licence with their interpretations of them. SO, a couple of questions for you: First, do you plan to stay true to the design plan or are you, like many others just using the plans as a "General Postcard"? And, if you don't mind me asking, what was it about this particular design that prompted you to go for it rather than any of the other proven designs out there?. I'm not being negative in any way, I'm just being curious. Regards, James

Re: Good Morning - Boat Build in South Africa
hi james
am pretty much sticking to design only changes i am making is on the bow . Design shows a flat bow but changed to a pointed bow witch adds about 2ft . most of the dimesions worked well have done all 15 bulkheads and everything lines up true and correct.one of my concerns is the water tanks but fortunately have a few experts here in sa who have been very helpfull.interesting question is why i choose to build this design its the lines of this design just appealed to me and i think it was a bit of a challange with some of the dimensions as well.

Re: Good Morning - Boat Build in South Africa
Aloha and welcome aboard!
Its good to have you here. There are many folks who have built or rebuilt their own boats on the forum so if you do have questions then maybe someone can help.
kind regards,
