Going on a day sail in Turks and Caicos.

Been a long time lurker on this forum and couldn't find a particular forum to ask, so I guess I'll do it here.

My wife and I are going to Turks and Caicos next month for a week.

Would like to go out on a sailboat for a few hours, maybe whole day.

What's the best way to do so, without spending a crazy amount of money?

I would hope we could do something for less than a few hundred bucks/person.

Would like it to be a monohull. Don't mind sharing the ride with others.

Snorkeling would be a bonus, but not necessary.

Ideally, would like to do it on a boat that is owned/sailed/lived on by its owners, as I do have some interest in doing such a thing someday if I can ever get my wife to sign off on it.

Re: Going on a day sail in Turks and Caicos.

Last I was there (a few years ago -- pre-COVID) there were not any options to rent a boat for a day. I actually grabbed the largest Hobie the resort next door had (think it was 18'), took a couple family members and sailed all day. We were renting a private place on Grace Bay. We sailed east then through the cut north of Mangrove Cay and out to the southeast side. We improvised an anchor and snorkeled. I know this is not really what you are looking for, but it's an option if you have no others. We had an amazing time and the resort didn't seem to care where we took the thing as long as we were back by dark. It was kind of an adventure to take the Hobie on a journey -- still sailing though not really what I'm used to.

dcondit,

Yeah, we've done that sort of thing before in Antigua and a few other places. Will probably do it again. Would just like to get on a larger sailboat in my attempt to get the wife interested in it.

BTW, is Condit your last name? It's mine. Don't see it much, except for that time a while back when cousin Gary made it famous for 15 minutes!!!!

Don't really know if he's technically any sort of distant cousin, but probably is.
