i can only tell what worked for us -- we did not take up sailing until dec 2000 when we took some lessons from a
school in charlottes harbor fla - we got a
boat in 2003 and i retired a couple of years after that - we have been out about 6 years and have never been busier - we sailed the
east coast of the
usa 3 times the
bahamas 2 times and decided we wanted more - so we set off to
mexico and headed south and ended up in
colombia - we still wanted more so we sailed across the
jamaica and then down the island chain to trinidad then back up and wanted more - so on may 1 of this year we headed across the atlantic and are currently exploring the
azores and will
head to the mainland soon (God willing) -
not sure of your boat but we sail a 40'
jeanneau - any thing you need or questions to ask just pm us - if we have
internet we will answer
take care and good luck - it is not that difficult once you get started - the hard part is always the 1st step
just our opinion and what works for us
