Glad to be joining you all

Hi, folks--

I came across a Ted Hermann designed Lazy Jack 32' schooner, cheap, the same week I retired last May. I finished the fix-up just in time to haul out for the winter (here in Upstate New York, the Finger Lakes will be freezing soon). But the schooner's little sister, a Ted Hermann designed Rob Roy 23' yawl, is sitting on a trailer in the back yard, so I'm planning on trailering the yawl somewhere south in February or March for a few weeks of cruising.

I will be writing to you soon asking for insights and recommendations for the trip.

I've enjoyed reading what you have posted already on this site, and look forward to meeting some of you out on the water.

Welcome to CF.

You might consider the various TVA impoundments until it’s too cold. Then maybe Ten Tom and south. You might spend the bulk of winter on the Gulf Coast and into Florida west coast and Lake Okeechobee.

G'Day LZ 32 and welcome to CF. Enjoy your boats and your time on the forum. We will be here to offer advice, some of which might be useful, should you need it.

Re: Glad to be joining you all

Thanks for the welcome, folks.

I plan to be cruising single-handed (wife is not retired yet) on the Rob Roy 23 along the Panhandle/Alabama/Mississippi/ Louisiana coast for 2 or 3 weeks in March. First question is where to find a secure and inexpensive place to leave the truck and trailer while I'm sailing. Second question is how to get back to the truck from the far reaches of the cruise. (Third question is remembering where I left the truck keys once I get back...)

Thanks,

Lazy Jack 32
