G'day from the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
Hey everyone, how are we all in these crazy days? I've been reading and following CF for some years now and I thought it was a good time to introduce myself.
My wife and I lived on a 38ft Maurice Griffith, Good Hope design for a number of years in southern Tasmania, Australia, until our two boys started needing that extra bit of space life on a boat doesn't offer.
Those years off the water were hard ones but my patience was rewarded a while ago when my wife and I purchased our next project, a 1977 Clansman 30. One of the first fibreglass production yachts to be built in Australia. Built incredibly strong with classic lines above and below the water. With a refit and few bits of modern kit Velella will take us nearly anywhere.
Happy sailing people but for now remember, stay home, stay safe!
Adrian

Great yacht the Clansman, there is another one in Kawana Waters marina. Yours must be one of the last ones built?
Welcome aboard.

Welcome Adrian!
We have spent a lot of time in the Sunshine Coast, beautiful area and yes the Clansman is a really great boat. I hope you enjoy your new adventures and good luck with the refit!

G'Day Adrian and welcome aboard CF. Ann and I have spent lots of time cruising the E coast of Oz and Tassie, Lizard to SW Cape so far, and are now sheltering in Port Cygnet trying to avoid the lurgy. Thus our wakes are unlikely to cross in the near term, but when we come N once again, we'd keep a lookout for you... if you'll tell us the name of your Clansman!
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Fore and Aft, I believe the Clansman in Kawana Waters Marina is up for sale now? Being a '77 model, our boat is certainly towards the aft end of the production run. Thanks for the welcome

G'day Jim, I know that part of Tasmania quite well. My wife and I lived on a swing mooring in Oyster Cove for a number of years before the family needed more space, and moved on to land in Kettering for about a further 5 years. I have great memories of sailing up and down the D'entrecasteaux Channel, exploring, a lot of the time with a stiff sou'wester making life enjoyable! When you find yourself back in these parts of the country, look out for a Clansman named "Velella". Happy sailing people
