G'day from Perth

Hi I'm Geoff

My wife Linda and I are in negotiation to buy our first cat - FP Bahia 46. We are planning to spend the next 2 years learning to sail around Perth before retiring and heading off around Aus and then further afield

Looking forward to learning from the experience of others on this form

Thanks
Geoff

Hi Geoff,
Welcome,
I am leaving leaving Perth tomorrow to drive to Bowen,
where my new to me yacht awaits,
home will be where the anchor touches,
maybe we will meet in an anchorage somewhere,
cheers, Emmo

Hi Geoff and Linda,
We are also in Perth and planning the same as you. Looking at Lagoon 421's at the moment. Hopefully, our dream will start next year when the Skipper retires. Fun planning though. Good luck with your dream, keep us informed on how you are doing.
Cheers and Beers

Greeting Geof, your in good company here in Perth. Get an independent survey and inspect a second time after any remediations. Have you a pen to keep it?

We are having the FP surveyed in the next couple of weeks and yes good advice to reinspect after the work is done. We don't have a pen as yet still looking at options. Any suggestions? Regards Geoff

G'day Geoff & Linda, welcome to the forum. I too am in Perth and just bought a Jarkan 34 (mono). I went through Vicsail brokers and was very satisfied with the level of service and attention to detail throughout. Plan to start my voyage East in October. Great to see so many WA yachties on here.
Cheers
Colin

Cats are an awesome way to sail downwind around the world. I can't think of anything I would rather do than be sailing downwind in the trades. Enjoy your new adventures.

Hi Geoff and Linda,

We purchased our Bahia 46 15 months ago and sailed her back to NZ from Tahiti. We absolutely love her and still pinch ourselves More than delighted to share our experiences or just humble opinions. It has been a massive learning curve for us but great fun. Which Bahia are you after?

Cheers
Lisa

Hi Geoff and Linda,

All the best with your sailing dreams ... sailed in your neck of the woods and enjoyed it thoroughly! We spent 2 years sorting out our boat to be cruise ready and are so glad we did ! Always a good idea to do that stuff near home where you understand the craftsman you are working with .... BUT ... it is sooo nice crossing the big blue on your yacht for the first time ...
