G'Day From Oz

Finally 4 days till we move aboard!! I have been following and reading all the amazing information on this site for years. Some days it's hard to read others doing what you wish you where but other days it keeps the dreams alive. We had to delay plans for 12 months due to a little bundle of joy yep our beautiful daughter Ocean Mei foiled our original plans haha but with our dreams solid this family Is moving aboard to begin our cruising life!!

The house, car and all our possessions are now sold wow the freedom the complete relief is amazing so happy. We do however know we are in for a total new set of challengers and stresses, I thank all the contributors to this forum for a total insight into what I see to be a dream lifestyle.

To all those who are not as close as us to throwing in the dock lines keep the dream within your sights and don't let what seem like never ending hurdles prevent you from setting the sails!

Anyone around the Brisbane/Gold Coast area with a young family (or not) cruising we would love to here from you!

What's our plan....... Hmmmm simply to enjoy

Well done you guys and congrats on the new addition to the crew. Our twins were born whilst cruising, followed by their two brothers. We sailed for a number of years until finances drove us ashore (never did find an economical distance learning scheme).
What sort of vessel have your bought? We intend purchasing another catamaran in three years time to return to cruising once the kids are off to 'varsity.
Good luck,
C.

Thanks Bulawayo twins wow hats off and the follow up with two more bravo! We have bought a 37ft catamaran and hopefully with some good fortune including a little work along the way the finances will let us sail forever!! Yep a dreamer at heart haha

Re: G'Day From Oz

We cruised for 11 years before finally returning to the rat race and even now long to return. We sold our cat in Turkey to a Brit before flying home and resuming work. Our plans are firmly in place - mortgage shall be cleared by March 2014 and then just under three more years to collect the funding for the next cat and then away to sail whilst living off the house rental - yippee - the time shall go past soon enough!
Which 37ft'er did you fInally select and why? Our cat was one of the original 40ft Voyagers (then called a Norseman).
