G'day all you great people

So, I have had a dream all of my life. And that is to circumnavigate Australia by water just like Matthew Flinders did. A great way to see Australia by the sea. I am on a very **** low budget, but I care not for comfort but for functionality. What I would really like is for the very experienced sailors on this forum to give me their honest opinions on the low budget boats that I am considering buying. Without someone stealing the boat from under me, Yes I have sailed, yes I am quite proficient on a boat. Many captains have commented that I am very capable. That doesn't mean that I think I am the be all and end all. I still have a massive amount to learn. Anywho, so I would like to post the boats I am looking at and get your opinions on said boats. Would it be better to have a mentor to PM? I am not sure. Fire away. Cheers.

CrazyStoney, welcome aboard CF.

With the goal of circumnavigating Australia, you will need a boat that is offshore capable. So what boats have you been looking at and what is your price range? Also, in what areas will you be looking for this mythical boat? We knew some folks who did it in an H-28, with two large dogs aboard.

Re: G'day all you great people

I have no knowledge of the sailboat market in any area of Australia, but here in Florida there's a risk that comes with posting questions about a specific boat on the market. When someone posts questions about a specific boat and location, many follow the discussion. If a subject looks promising you can find others competing for your find. It's probably best to guard the information that would identify a specific prospect and ask general questions about the model and the condition.

Hi Ann, thanks for your reply. I am in Brisbane Australia. My price range is 25K and I am looking at a boat at least 30ft or over anywhere on the east coast. Hudson Force I agree, I did the same on another forum regarding antiques and just became a finder of bargains for the rich and ruthless. Cheers.
